Sandcastle Water Park – Family Highlights

A straight drive south from our Blackpool family hotel is where you’ll find the Sandcastle Water Park. There’s something for everyone here – and these are just a few of our highlights.

• For the very young (3 years +) there’s HMS Thundersplash and Fort Riptide, both armed with some gentle water slides to ease the youngsters, or less confident, into the swing of things.
• The Ushi-Gushi River Creek – a Blackpool Sandcastle favourite! The whole family will enjoy letting the water do the work as you’re pulled through the creek by the current. But watch out overhead – there may be a bucket of water with your name on it!
• Treetops Water Chutes – Fast enough to thrill but nice and shallow for younger riders, these slides are suitable for everyone age 3+. Young children can ride with adults.
• Duelling Dragons – Sandcastle Water Park gets scary! Two intertwining dark slides – and they’re seriously fast! So which will it be: The Serpent or Barracuda? Hold your breath…
• Caribbean Storm Treehouse – a towering interactive play area of waterfalls, water cannons, showers and jets. And right at the top, high above you, a gigantic coconut gradually fills with water. You’d better hope it doesn’t topple over…
• Masterblaster - dare you ride the longest indoor water rollercoaster in the world? Be blasted along the 250 metre course, through chasms and ravines – and even uphill! You’ll travel round – and even outside - the Blackpool Sandcastle as you head towards your final, ultimate splashdown…

Sandcastle Water Park – the Poldhu Hotel insider’s guide:

• Blackpool Sandcastle’s opening times vary even within the same week – so best to check direct on (01253 356 918). As a general rule of thumb, during summer, opening is never later than 10.30 but may be as early as 9.30. Closing times are similarly varied.
• Book online and save 10% off standard admission prices BUT you’ll need to take along your booking reference number, confirmation sheet and proof of id (bank statement or utility bill) to pick up your tickets.
• Your standard Sandcastle Water Park admission includes entry to all the attractions with the exception of Materblaster and Sidewinder. For those you need the upgraded admission that includes Hyperzone. With your upgrade however, you can ride Masterblaster or Sidewinder as many times as you like.
• Take 50ps with you for your lockers (refundable).
• Blackpool Sandcastle can get very, very busy. It’s so large that you’ll still be able to enjoy the vast majority of attractions no matter how full it gets but queues for Masterblaster and Sidewinder can become lengthy. Our tip? Arrive early or leave late, especially if you’re planning on using the more adult rides.
• Trams heading to Sandcastle Water Park pass our Blackpool Promenade Hotel every ten minutes. Our local tram stop is just a two minute walk away from the Poldhu Hotel. Journey time will be around 15 minutes.
• Nearest tram stop: Pleasure Beach.
• Nearest Car Park: South Beach.
