You can see it for miles around; it’s the iconic Blackpool landmark and you’re guaranteed an unforgettable family day out. It can only be Blackpool Tower!

You really can’t bring the family to Blackpool and not spend a day in the Tower. It is one of the top Blackpool family attractions. For families with younger children (we reckon primary school age) it’s the perfect day out.

You can leave them to play in the fabulous Jungle Jims, a kids’ play area like you wouldn’t believe. You can gasp, cheer and laugh yourself silly at the wonderful Blackpool Tower Circus and you can dance to the mighty Wurlitzer in the beautiful Blackpool Tower Ballroom. And all of that’s just for starters…

Blackpool Tower – family highlights.

We think you’ll love your holiday, staying at our Blackpool family hotel. We think you’ll love it all the more if you put aside a day to visit the Blackpool Tower.

If you’re a family with younger children you’ll find they’ll get a huge buzz out of pretty much everything there – but visitors of all ages will love the Tower Top Ride, the aquarium and the Tower Circus.

Here are a few of our favourites:

• Blackpool Tower Circus is a must. World-renowned acts in surely the grandest circus setting of all. And you’ll love our resident, multi award-winning clown, Mooky.
• Dare you to take the Walk of Faith? At the top of the Tower there’s a portion of the floor that’s been removed and replaced by glass. All you have to do is walk across it. Don’t. Look. Down.
• Blackpool Tower Ballroom is a delight. It’s a great place for families to take a break from the frenetic pace and enjoy a spot of afternoon tea. It’s also, of course, a world-renowned dance venue and on every day of the week you’ll be entertained by the Wurlitzer and the couples who just come to dance.
• Jungle Jims – adults, relax. Time for you to grab a coffee whilst the kids race around a stunning play area that looks like something from an Indiana Jones movie.

Blackpool Tower – the Poldhu Hotel insider’s guide:

• Don’t be deceived. If you’ve got primary school aged children you will spend the whole day in Blackpool Tower!
• The Tower usually opens at 10.00am. Closing times vary. Check with Blackpool Tower (01253 622 242) for details. Be aware that, outside of school holidays, the Tower building is usually closed on Mondays and Fridays.
• The Tower Top Ride does not operate in high winds.
• Your entry price includes a ticket to Blackpool Tower Circus. They do tend to change the circus seating system quite frequently. Sometimes they allocate seats, sometimes it’s first come, first served at each showing. On those occasions start queuing early.
• During high season the Tower Circus will have two or three showings each day. To give the performers a day off, Fridays have tended to see the regular show replaced with a magic show. Best check direct with the Blackpool Tower (01253 622 242) to confirm.
• At peak times Jungle Jims operates a wrist band system and sets a time limit for play. Our tip? Head back later in the afternoon. It’s always quieter.
• Want to become a Blackpool Tower Ballroom regular? Ask the Tower about their Gold Card scheme and dance every day from 10am during the season.
• Trams heading to Blackpool Tower are every ten minutes. Our local tram stop is just a two minute walk away from the Poldhu Hotel. Journey time will be around 10 minutes.
