Blackpool Zoo – Come and See the Baby Boom!
Blackpool Zoo’s animals just can’t seem to stop having babies at the moment – which means your family day out at Blackpool Zoo will be filled with as many ‘aaahs’ as ‘ooohs’!
Blackpool Zoo Park is in the middle of a baby boom. Wherever you look there are babies popping up all over the place. Visit Blackpool Zoo in 2010 and you’ll see lion cubs, seal pups, baby giraffes, baby otters and many more.
With over 1500 animals it will take you a whole day to see everything at Blackpool Zoo. Don’t forget to take the dinosaur safari and visit the Aardvark playbarn too – they’re musts for kids!
Blackpool Zoo - family highlights
There are just so many Blackpool family attractions placed along the seafront. And since you’ll be staying in our Blackpool seafront hotel, you’d be forgiven for never venturing inland. That would be a great shame, though, as you’d be missing out on one of Blackpool’s favourite attractions.
Blackpool Zoo is adding to its roster of animals and redeveloping the park all the time. Everyone has their own favourites, but don’t miss:
- Sealions –
the sealion pool has been redeveloped for 2010. Opening at Easter you’ll enjoy a whole new way of seeing the seals
- Penguins – see them above and below the water!
- Lions – the 3 cubs are 1 year old in April
- Tigers – Blackpool Zoo’s Amur tiger died last year at a ripe old age. 2010 sees the redevelopment of the enclosure and the arrival of a new tiger!
- Giraffes – 7 of them – including Timber (now 2 years old) and O’Grady who was born in Autumn 2009
- Gorillas – Blackpool Zoo has won awards for its Gorilla Mountain. The whole central portion of Blackpool Zoo is given over to these magnificent animals with a whole island to roam. It’s the nearest you’ll get to seeing them in their natural habitat.
- Amazonia – a walk-through adventure as you come face to face with the animals of the Amazon!
For younger children the Arnie Aardvark playbarn is a great way for them to burn off energy whilst grown-ups get to enjoy a breather.
Kids will also love the Dinosaur Safari – a chance to walk through a Jurassic Park of T-Rex and Pteranodon – whilst a volcano erupts nearby…
